If you love crisp, refreshing white wines, then you'll love Sancerre. This French region's Sauvignon Blancs are renowned for a reason. The highly regarded appellation of Sancerre is known for producing some of the best expressions of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. They are famous for their racy, vivacious, citrus-dominated Sauvignon Blanc. Sancerre's enormous popularity in French bistros led to its success as the go-to restaurant white around the globe. Sauvignon Blanc from this region in Loire is famous for its herbal, citrusy profile. The wines are richly textured with ripe gooseberry aromas, bracing acidity and flinty-smoke flavors. Sancerre is dominated by flavors of citrus, flint, sea salt, honeysuckle, and freshly cut herbs. Sancerre's crisp, refreshing style makes it the perfect bottle for sunny days. For eleven generations, the Prieur family has farmed in Sancerre. Their vineyard holdings are located in the most prestigious terroirs in the area. The Prieur family makes an elegant, classic style of Sancerre. The 2022 Pierre Prieur et Fils Domaine de Saint-Pierre Sancerre comes from vines planted on some of the finest terroirs in Sancerre: Les Monts Damnes, Les Cous de Brault and Le Chene Marchand. It has a very fruity, citrusy nose with ripe peach and pear notes. This is an expressive Sauvignon Blanc with great length and openness. It's fresh with crisp acidity. It's fine and elegant with a saline note that adds finesse and length. It's absolutely delicious. Enjoy!
Winemaker Notes:
"A white wine with white and citrus fruit aromas. On entry, the wine is a combination of liveliness and richness and shows lovely structure on the mid-palate. The finish leaves an impression of freshness and a saline note that adds finesse and length. The domaine’s vines are planted in some of the finest Sancerre terroirs: Les Monts Damnés, les Cous de Brault, le Chêne Marchand, in total about 30 south and southeast-facing plots, the heritage of a long line of wine growers. The "Domaine de Saint-Pierre" wine is created from a blend of all these terroirs."
