"This spectacular wine is rich with green apple, nectarine, and lemon peel aromas. The texture is creamy and dense, yet lively with vibrant acidity, bringing the wine balance and drawing it to a lovely finish. The grapes are from the half-hectare near the top of the slope on the border with St-Aubin. Some of the vines here are more than a century old. Lucie Coutoux remarks that it is a beautiful terroir, but it can be complicated to work. The soils are rocky, and without rain, maturation will cease, yet in 2022, it has produced marvellous results."

"Sultry, smoky notes underline the aromas of white flowers and Poire Williams. The palate shows power and polish with the textured extract nicely contrasted by rippling acidity. These are 100-year-old vines sitting in a real clos with four standing walls."

"Note: from a .54 ha parcel of leased vines that the domaine has exploited since 1988 and believed to have been planted in 1939. Beautifully layered aromas of smoky pear, spice and a lovely array of white orchard fruit nuances are trimmed in hint of just sliced citrus. I very much like the texture and vibrancy of the slightly bigger-bodied yet more refined flavors that display excellent length on the balanced, clean, dry and impressively long finish. This is excellent and a wine that always repays extended keeping and the 2022 version should be no exception.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*"

"An attractive mid lemon colour. The nose is a little more backward, but the palate delivers impressive tension along with the usual complete mouthful of the purest white fruit. Tension pursues all the way through and the ripeness is perfect. This is not the most fruit forward of Chaumées I have tasted here, but has all the qualities for ageing well. Drink from 2028-2034."

"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Chaumées 1er Cru, which comes from a plot prone to some hydric stress, takes time to unfold on the nose. Touches of grass clippings and meadow underlie the slightly more malic fruit. There's plenty of freshness, and the aromatics here are nicely focused. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. One of the Domaine's more elegant Chassagne-Montrachet, this will drink well for the next decade."
