"There is a fairly deep colour and ripe blackberry and plum fruit with hints of mineral and smoke. All of the fruit comes from their old vine holdings in the deep clay soils at the base of the slope in Vosne. The grapes are destemmed, and the fermenting must is punched down daily and pumped over in the morning and the evening. The wines are ageing know in cask (25% new). (Drink between 2027-2045)."
Vinous, 91-93 Points
"From vines planted in 1931, the 2021 Vosne-Romanee La Colombiere has an ethereal bouquet with brambly red fruit and ground limestone scents - beautifully focused, yet understated. The palate is medium-bodied wit filigree tannins, extremely precise with beguiling tension on the finish. Like a Swiss watch …but it tastes better."
Jasper Morris, 90-92 Points
"Just the old vines, the younger ones going into the blended Vosne-Romanée. Both cuvées are vinified in the same way, so it is the terroir and vine age which counts. Clearly a more intense colour and oddly, the oak shows a little more. More tannins too, with a thicker textured dark fruit. Fair length. More awkward today but with greater potential."
