"The Montagny Chazelle from Aline Beauné was a standout at a recent blind tasting, with its aroma of ripe pears scented with exotic Asian spice with an edge of beeswax and flint. The complexity of the fruit continues on the palate; the texture is both silky and dense, with impressive length for the village – it is pleasantly rich but not heavy. The grapes come from a parcel of 0.80 hectares facing east. After a gentle pressing, they are fermented on native yeasts, 30% in tank, and the rest in large casks, 10% new."

"Aline is the only vigneron to produce a 1er Cru Chazelle. She has 0.90ha of 40-50 year old vines, including some of the muscatty chardonnay. 75% has been made in barrel, with 15% new wood overall. Full lemon colour with a steelier nose, some lemon grass and a little fresh greengage, maybe some crushed oyster shells. Excellent grip and a fine suave persistent fruit throughout. Quite classic Montagny. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Apr 2024."
Winemaker Notes:
"Prime mid-slope site with 40 year old vines planted from selection massale. The soils are clay limestone, falling just below where the marl starts on the hill. East facing. A blend of tank, cask and new barrel adds to the complexity of this gorgeous wine."
Alcohol: 13.5%
