San Pedro is one of Chile's most important wineries and one of the finest estates in South America.  It's Chile's flagship winery and a reference of Chilean wine worldwide.  They create some of the most exported and consumed Chilean wines in the world.  Two decades ago, the global wine world was turned on its head following the emergence of a number of premium wines from the New World.  Chile, and especially San Pedro, played a large part in this due to the quality of their wines from the country's top terroirs.  Decanter wrote, "At present, the marketplace is seeing Chilean wine undergo an exhilarating transformation from good-value everyday wine to something more diverse and quality-oriented."  San Pedro's Sidreal has found its place among the fine wine elite.  It has been recognized among the "100 Best Chilean Wines" by James Suckling.  The 2021 San Pedro Sideral is one of their top bottlings at an unbeatable price.  It's a very elegant Chilean red wine that is showing excellent poise and balance.  It's fresh and generous on the palate with a delightful, fruity finish.  This red blend is rich and concentrated with fine tannins.  On the nose, there are aromas of strawberries and vanilla cream.  It has flavors of plum, sour cherry, blackberries, cassis, baking spice, herbs and black tea.  The flavors are intense and juicy with brilliant acidity on the palate.  This wine is delicious now and will only improve and evolve with age.  Enjoy!

Vinous, 95 Points

"The 2021 Sideral is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 9% Carmenere, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc from Cachapoal Andes.  90% of it was aged for 16 months in barrels, a fifth of them new.  A vivid purple hue.  The aromas feature crystal clear blackberry and blackcurrant notes, mulberry, herbs and black tea over a bed of oak.  In the mouth, the flavors are intense and juicy with grippy tannins before the languorous, fruity finish.  This year’s more reductive style, thanks to the cold vintage, lays down an excellent marker for the future."

James Suckling, 94 Points

"Very fresh and fruit-expressive nose with a floral note and some herbs. Blue and red fruit. Pure and even on the palate with a medium to full body, showing excellent poise and balance. Fine-grained, structured tannins aplenty. Drink now or hold."

Decanter, 93 Points

"Inspired by the night skies above Cachapoal Valley – in Latin sideralis means constellation – this is a nicely balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carmenère, with dashes of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Lively, inviting aromas of spicy black berries and cherries. Vibrant red fruit attack gives way to a rich, concentrated palate with fine tannins, layered with plum, sour cherry, blackberries and dusty cassis notes on the finish. Will improve with age."

Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points

"The nose displays notes of strawberry and vanilla cream. This blend is balanced and smooth on the palate, delivering a fair mix of red fruit and baking spices that linger through a delightful finish."

Natalie MacLean,

"Sideral 2021 is a dry, medium-plus-bodied red wine blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 9% Petit Verdot, 9% Carmenère, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc grapes sourced from the Cachapoal Valley wine region. The wine was aged for 16 months in oak barrels (20% new) as well as in 2,000-litre casks. From a cool vintage, the wine is fresh and generous on the palate with bright red berry fruit, cherry, fine herbs and tomato leaf aromas and flavours with brilliant acidity on the palate. Tannins are fine-grained and pleasantly chewy. A very elegant Chilean red wine that will continue to evolve in bottle for the next five years."
