"The 2021 Ribona from Boccadigabbia is a lovely example of this ancient varietal that is seldom found now in the Marche. The estate has two hectares planted with twenty-five year-old vines of Ribona and the wine is fermented and raised in stainless steel. The 2021 version comes in at an even thirteen percent octane and offers up a complex aromatic constellation of green olive, tart pear, lime peel, a touch of grassiness, dried flowers and a lovely base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and complex, with excellent depth at the core, a fine spine of acidity, excellent focus and grip and a long, well-balanced and classy finish. This really has impressive backend lift. 2022-2030+"
Winemaker Notes:
"This wine is produced with Ribona grapes, a rare variety that is also called Maceratino, because it is almost exclusively grow in the province of Macerata. It is a crisp anf full-flavoured wine, characterized by the intense fragrances typical of this grape variery, intensified by the cryomaceration of grapes before fermentation. Verdicchio Marino (Sea Verdicchio) is another name for Ribona, which is perfedt with both traditional and creative fish dishes of the Adriatic coast."
