Producer: Maximin Grunhaus
Region: Mosel, Germany
Varietal: Riesling
Year: 2020

James Suckling, 94 Points

"A very serious wine that has the mineral depth and herbal complexity of a GG, but packed into a sleeker, lithe frame with just 11.5% alcohol. Very long, finely etched finish that’s really compelling. Drink or hold."

Wine Spectator, 90 Points

"Focused and pure, with inviting elderflower, white peach and chamomile, pithy grapefruit acidity and stony minerals that drive the lithe palate. Drink now."

Winemaker Notes:

"A nuanced and complex dry Riesling selected from parcels in this cult producer’s best two vineyards. This is the estate’s “Ortswein” (VDP equivalent of villages), which expresses the unique terroir of their contiguous hillside of vineyards, their characteristic slate soil, and their singular location in this tiny, protected side valley of the Mosel. The redundancy in the name occurs because this is the one estate in Germany where the estate and “village” share the same name: Grünhaus (“Grünhäuser” is the possessive form in German)."

Alcohol: 11.5%
