"From a 1ha parcel, all in one block, the fruit ripens very early which winemaker, Benoît Riffault, suggests may be due to the rootstock. The Sauzet method of whole bunch pressing and reductive aging has produced a wine of great richness, with fruit that tends toward tropical, showing great richness and length on the finish. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029."
Vinous, 92-94 Points
"The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru has a more austere bouquet compared to the La Truffière: granite and flint notes, a touch fumé in style. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, strict and correct, a Puligy with a sapid finish that cries out for fruits de mer! Very fine, though one for the Puligny hardcore."
Wine Advocate, 90-93 Points
"The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet was one of the lowest-yielding cuvées chez Sauzet this year, and it's a ripe, powerful wine. Mingling notes of honeycomb, orange oil and pear with hints of fresh bread, white flowers and crushed chalk, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and textural, with a deep core of fruit and succulent acids. It will be interesting to revisit it in bottle."
