Wine Spectator, 94 Points
"Power meets finesse, with a core of dense complexity wrapped in dynamic blackberry, smoky meat, crushed stone and pepper flavors that build toward big but refined tannins."
Wine Advocate, 93 Points
"The very deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Syrah Mt. Veeder has a lifted nose of red and black cherries, black raspberries and rose hip tea with hints of wild blueberries, bouquet garni and olives. The palate is medium-bodied, very refreshing, spicy and elegant with nice rounded tannins and a long finish."
About the Winery:
"Our wines are made from grapes that we grow ourselves. Most of our effort is in the vineyard, where we devote considerable time to fine tuning the balance between the leaf canopy and the fruit. Not too much crop, not too little, just the right amount for the best flavors that our site can produce. Our winemaking practices are minimal. No extended maceration. We use only neutral French oak barrels in order to minimize oak flavor. We started out growing only Syrah, but we now also grow Mondeuse, Malbec and Zinfandel."
Alcohol: 14.5%
