James Suckling, 92 Points
"Nicely savory notes of pine sap, porcini mushrooms, mocha, dried blueberries and burnt oranges. Firm and dark-fruited with a medium body and compact tannins. Still a little tight and dense. Drink from 2024."
Jeb Dunnuck, 92 Points
"The 2019 Pinot Noir Volcanic is more up front with primary fruit on the nose, with raspberry liqueur, licorice, and crushed violets. It has an iron-rich structure on the palate, with cherry pit, turned earth, and tea leaf. Another fantastic wine from Andrew Rich, it offers a wonderful contrast in the portfolio and is a real pleasure to revisit alongside its Marine Sedimentary counterpoint. This one deserves another couple of years in the cellar before drinking 2024-2032."
Winemaker Notes:
"Damp earth, cherry, and floral notes on the nose, with tension and weightlessness on the palate, this is a seductive Pinot to drink now, but it will develop further and should age well for another 5-7 years."
Alcohol: 13.5%
