"Aromas of ripe, decadent fruit with black-cherry, plum and crushed-stone undertones. Some subtle smoke, too. Full-bodied and juicy with powerful, creamy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Lots of structure here. Needs three or four years to open. Try after 2024."

"Sourced from a single parcel of 25-year-old vines, the name is a reference to the land registry plot, ‘p.56,’ and the original name of the site dating from the 1940s, “Oliveto.” A note of rusticity in the 2015 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva Oliveto is somewhat pleasant and an attractive counterpoint to the rich, but not overblown ripeness of the fruit. Aromatics of sour black cherry, barnyard, cedar and dill are followed by a full-bodied red with tangy black cherry cola and juicy plum as well as a long finish with ample tannin. The forwardness of the fruit makes for a pleasurable wine now with some air, though it is certainly a long way off from maturity. Drink 2022-2035."

"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino P.56 Riserva from Tenuta Buon Tempo is a very pretty and refined expression of Sangiovese.  The display of wild strawberry and cherry is accentuated by hints of savory herbs and flowery undergrowth.  The purity of its fruit, mixed with the soft textures found within, creates a sooting feel with a salty note that frames this nicely.  While youthful in feel, this is really quite lifted and feminine, showing beautifully already, yet making me wonder if extended cellaring will hurt or help.  That said, this is a pleasure to taste."
