"Bruno Paillard's vintage blanc de blancs tends to offer a true picture of taut, grand cru Chardonnay together with a touch of the house's expressive, spicy, barrel-influenced style at vintage level. 2014 is no different, with a focus on Oger over Le Mesnil-sur-Oger offering plenty of salted lemon, toasted sourdough and roasted stone fruit. The brightness of the vintage is evident too, in apple blossom and clementine with tapering, elegant acidity. It's intense, but not rasping or grippy, and it is already drinking well. This is sure to settle into further smoothness with time on cork; magnums offer even greater precision and longevity."

"A nutty, creamy blanc de blancs that has citrus-rind, pie-crust and chopped-almond aromas. It’s medium-bodied with a soft, velvety mousse. Almond notes linger. Disgorged in 2023. Dosage 3g/L. Drink now." 

Winemaker Notes: 

"A brilliant, pale gold tint, with a fine and chiselled effervescence reflecting the wine’s long ageing period.  The nose is very enveloping with initial aromas of stone fruits, hawthorn and sea spray... Generous citrus notes such as yuzu and blood orange, enhanced by a fresh aniseed flavour. With aeration, the wine evolves towards almonds, mixed with scents of apricot.  The attack is precise and supple. On the palate, the wine is well-rounded with a beautiful ripeness. As promised by the appearance, the texture is caressing, almost unctuous. There is great aromatic coherence between the nose and the palate. The freshness of the vintage is expressed in its saline structure and persistence, without any austerity. The full flavour of the yellow fruits mixed with star anise inspires the ‘Gourmand’ theme that the artist was commissioned to illustrate this wine."
