Producer: El Gavilan Winery
Region: Sonoma County, California
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Year: 1941
"the wine was made by The El Gavilan Winery in 1941 but before it could be bottled WWII broke out and operation at the winery pretty much ceased as all able bodied men were drafted. ......From a wartime production that had been stored and later bottled at the El Galivan winery by August Sebastiani, then proprietor, in 1947. The name Casa de Sonoma refers to the name of Sebastiani's private residence and the wine is said to have been originally intended for personal consumption and rarely marketed. It was stored in an old stable on the Sebastiani property for decades. After August passed away in 1980, the bottles were catalogued, inspected, and re-corked."
