Simi Winery is one of the oldest continuously operating wineries in California's history.  It was founded in 1876 by brothers Giuseppe and Pietro Simi, but the story really begins with Isabelle, Giuseppe's daughter.  She took over the winery at the age of 18, after the tragic passing of her father and her uncle.  Simi credits Isabelle's business savvy and determination for the company's long-lasting success.  It is largely thanks to her that Simi is still making fantastic wine some 145 years later.  She steered the winery through natural disaster and survived Prohibition when very few wineries did the same.  Thanks to Isabelle's legacy, Simi prides itself on being led by female pioneers.  They hired Maryann Graf, the first woman to graduate from an American university with a degree in oenology.  Zelma Long, one of California's most prominent winemakers, brought the winery to national prominence.  Today Simi is one of the most respected wineries in Sonoma County.  The 2019 Simi Reserve Russian River Valley Chardonnay is full of fruit-forward flavor.  On the nose, you'll detect baked pear, caramel, hazelnut, honey, and a hint of clove and honeysuckle.  There are flavors of pear, citrus, butterscotch, shortbread cookie, and baking spices. "This Russian River Valley Chardonnay delivers an exquisite reflection of this moderate climate with morning fog influences of bright acidity, while gently warming days impart ripe flavors of apple and honey. 

Simi presents a full bodied and fruit forward Chardonnay, with suave oak integrated into the core of this generous wine.  It has a beautiful light straw color with a golden edge. The wine opens with notes of baked pear, caramel, hazelnut, honey, and a touch of clove and honeysuckle. The palate is warm and weighty with pear, citrus, butterscotch, shortbread cookie, and baking spice. This Reserve offers mouthwatering acidity with a Rubenesque texture and a long, beautiful finish. It reflects the best of what Russian River Valley fruit can offer."
