Female-owned and run, Patrizia Cencioni represents two generations of talent in Patrizia and her daughters whose natural talents have turned this small estate into an up-and-coming star.  It is a shining example of how hard work and dedication can turn a modest family farm into a heavy-hitter of the world-class Brunello appellation.  Patrizia Cencioni’s family roots reach back decades in Montalcino, her grandfather was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino.  Brunello from her estate is wonderfully suave and savory.  These wines are not to be missed.  The 2018 Patrizia Cencioni Brunello di Montalcino is excellent with tons of character and concentration.  It's full-bodied with iron richness.  This world-class Sangiovese has notes of red plums, cherry licorice, black and red cherries, dried herbs, leather, dark minerals, mocha, dried herbs and baking spice.  It's nicely balanced and silky with a fairly long finish and suave tannins.  This is a Brunello that will age gracefully but is difficult to keep your hands off of today.  Enjoy!

Jeb Dunnuck, 92 Points

"The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino reveals layers of cherry licorice, leather, dark minerals, and smoke. It is full-bodied, with iron richness, and meaty red plum, mocha, and dried herbs. It has ripe tannins, with a fresh lift of acidity, and is a nicely balanced wine with a fairly long finish. Drink 2025-2035."

Vinous, 90 Points

"There's a mentholated freshness that holds my attention firm as the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino comes to life in the glass. With swirling woodland herbs and earth tones mixed with dried black cherries and cloves form its spicy bouquet. This is silky in feel with masses of saline-minerals and tart wild berry fruits that create a savory profile within. It finishes lightly structured and a bit chewy, with hints of cranberry that slowly fade under an air of rosy florals."

Winemaker Notes:

"An excellent Brunello with tons of character and concentration. Patrizia’s vines benefit from the regional warm and windy microclimate, mixing intense heat during the day with cooling winds at altitude during the evenings; a recipe for success when it comes to world-class Sangiovese. Spiced, suave, always seductive! A Brunello that will age with grace (if you can keep your hands off it today).  Aromas of black and red cherries, plums, baking spice. Medium-bodied, juicy; suave tannins."
