"Aromas of ripe apple, hazelnut, and butter grace the initial attack of this lovely wine from the south-facing lieu-dit of La Chatenière. The texture is more substantial than nearby Champlots, and the grapes have marvelous maturity. The site is a bit further down the slope than the former and is sheltered from the wind. Colin presses the grapes gently and runs the must into cask without settling to craft this delicious wine that easily recalls his more famous appellations."

"The 2021 Saint-Aubin Les Chatenière 1er Cru, whose malo finished earlier than others back in July, is exceedingly complex on the nose with mineral-rich malic scents, intense and beautifully defined, very Puligny-inspired. The palate is well-balanced with a powerful opening, impressive depth and tension, superb mineralité and a bright, again, Puligny-like finish. Superb."

"Here too there is enough reduction to render the nose difficult to assess. Otherwise, there is excellent punch and minerality to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that conclude in a precise, stony and wonderfully refreshing finish. This balanced effort is quite dry but not really austere and a wine that should repay 5 to 8 years of keeping."

"A little more yellow in the colour with a fatter creamy style of bouquet, good flesh on the palate then a ripe lemon finish with good but not excessive acidity. Complex and potentially delicious. Drink from 2025-2028."
