"The 2013 Pinot Noir River Block possesses a stunning inner-core of brilliant black cherries, black raspberries, spring flowers and a touch of earth as well as a medium to full-bodied, layered mouthfeel. Similar to a great grand cru from the Côte de Nuits, this beauty possesses the lushness to be approachable in its youth, but will not hit its stride for another 2-4 years, and should last for 12-15."

"Dark red cherries, plums, spices, mint and new leather meld together in the 2013 Pinot Noir River Block. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive, with purplish overtones and plenty of spiciness to match the typical Russian River exuberance. This is one of the more open, sumptuous wines in the range."
Winemaker Notes:
"Rich berry fruits combine with a touch of anise much like the famed West Block. A powerful wine with ripe fruit flavors, firm tannins and balanced acidity. Planted in 1989, this vineyard lies along the Russian River. It has taken awhile, but we have isolated the area of the vineyard that makes a wine with such distinction that it was added to our single vineyard selections."
