Well, it’s that time of year again. You know, the time of year when the Russell’s Reserve barrel pick arrives from Wild Turkey. And if you’ve had a few of the Russell’s picks over the years, you know you’ll always get that great Wild Turkey nose and taste with each pour and then a little something different. 

I sampled this over the period of a week, and it developed nicely with each pour. Off the neck, it came off very floral and lacked the standard cherry note. Then after a day or so, the cherry came on strong. 

I recommend letting it sit in the glass for a good 15 minutes and a couple of drops of water really help to open it up nicely.

Nose: Cherry Cola, Toasted almonds, Toffee, Buttercream icing, 

Orange peel, freshly sharpened incense cedar pencil shavings 

Palate: Toffee, Orange marmalade, Semisweet chocolate, Leather,

Baking spices, Cherry

Finish: Medium long to long, baking spices Freshly cracked red peppercorns, Leather, Tobacco 

Alcohol: 55%/110 Proof
