"Smoky red and black fruits, spring flowers, rose, ground pepper, and some gamey, meaty nuances all soar from the 2021 Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard, a beautiful example of Walla Walla Syrah that's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, seamless mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's a singular expression of the variety that I wish every reader could taste. I love it today, yet I have no doubt it will evolve gracefully for 10-15 years."
Wine Enthusiast, 97 Points
"Acidity that induces shivers pairs up with fine, grainy tannins to give the palate a thrill of a lifetime. This Syrah is packed with aromas and flavors of dark cherry, orange peel, black tea and interesting touches of jicama, turmeric and ginger. Pair with steamed pork buns."
James Suckling, 96 Points
"Fantastic aromatics of red plums, Sichuan peppercorns, herbs, Chinese five spice and small raspberries. It’s meaty but also fruity, so fresh on the palate, medium-bodied, with fine and nervy tannins running through. About 70% whole cluster. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
Vinous, 94+ Points
"The 2021 Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard is perfumed with a pretty blend of violets, lavender, crushed rocks and dusty blackberries complicated by tones of flowery underbrush. This is silky smooth and round, with a savory core of red and black fruits underscored by saline minerals and spice. Its tannins come through in the finish, structured and long, with a pleasantly chewy sensation as hints of black raspberry fade slowly. Patience will be required but also rewarded."
Wine Advocate, 92+ Points
"Displaying a deep magenta core, the 2021 Syrah la Paciencia Vineyard opens with aromas of dusty black cherry skin, spiced plum and turned earth, accompanied by notes of petrichor and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is firm and tight on the palate, suggesting the need for additional time to fully develop, as it currently feels closed down and not fully integrated. Firm gripping tannins dominate the mineral-laced, rocky finish, with a hint of elevated alcohol lingering on the aftertaste alongside charred cherry skin notes. The wine aged for 21 months in neutral oak. Only 4,272 bottles were produced."
