Decanter, 95 Points

"Goutte d'Or (without an 's' chez Lafon) is generally the most powerful wine in the domaine's outstanding line up, with more of what Dominique Lafon calls 'punch'. Broader, creamier and a little more Meursault like, as it were, it has notes of beeswax and cream subtle oak and the refreshing acidity and minerality that are hallmarks of this early-picked style. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030."

John Gilman, 93 Points

"The 2018 Goutte d’Or was still in cask and absolutely singing at the time of my visit. The bouquet is very floral this year, delivering scents of pear, passion fruit, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, a gorgeous array of white flowers and a touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and has lovely cut and bounce, with excellent mid-palate depth, fine focus and grip and a long, complex and very, very classy finish. This is one of the best examples of Goutte d’Or I have tasted since the old vines were replanted in 1989. (Drink between 2023-2055)

Vinous, 93 Points

"The 2018 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru has a beautiful nose of orange blossom, crushed rock and touch of quince, very focused and articulating its terroir. The palate is very well balanced with a tangy, lightly spiced opening featuring hints of curry leaf. Just a touch of reduction on the finish, but it feels very persistent and leaves the mouth tingling for 30 second afterward. Excellent."

Burghound, 91-94 Points

"A restrained nose offers up cool, ripe and agreeably fresh aromas of white peach, citrus and, like the Clos de la Barre, a hint of phenolic character. The very rich and round middle weight plus flavors possess excellent density but also fine verve and outstanding length on the sappy palate coating finish where a hint of bitter citrus zest gradually emerges. As is usually the case, this excellent effort possesses both good muscle and power and is presently quite tightly wound and should easily be capable of repaying from 12 to 15 years of keeping. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*"

Wine Advocate, 91-93 Points

"As usual, the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or, which derives from clay-rich soils, makes for quite a contrast after the Bouchères, where the soils are richer in active calcium. Unwinding to reveal aromas of citrus oil, fresh peach, white flowers and a deft touch of minty new oak, the wine is medium to full-bodied, muscular and incisive, with a deeper and more structured profile than the ethereal Bouchères."
