Fiano may be the greatest white wine of Italy.  This ethereal wine is one of Italy's most praiseworthy white grapes - complex, fresh, textural and fantastically versatile with food.  Fiano is an ancient grape native to Italy and thought to date back to Ancient Roman times.  It's one of the few white grapes that handles aging well, but is also impressive in its youth.  Fiano turns out white wines with freshness, fragrance and finesse.  There's always some fruity richness to the wine and a bright acidity.  Fiano is ageless, timeless and effortlessly charming.   This dry, white wine has a silky texture.  It typically has a citrus blossom bouquet, honeyed notes and a hint of hazelnut.  It's known for its rich, lush flavors.  Fiano typically has notes of tropical fruits, honey and a touch of almond.  It's like sipping liquid sunshine.  Fiano di Avellino is considered the crown jewel of Fiano.  The Troisi family of Vadiaperti was one of the first growers to bottle a single-variety Fiano wine.  Their high-altitude vineyards and pure volcanic soils combine for southern Italian white wines of impeccable finesse, freshness and character.  The 2020 Vadiaperti Aipierti Fiano di Avellino is a wonder.  It's weighty and concentrated with a finish that goes on forever.  It has notes of smoke, flowers, pear, green apple, lemon zest, peach and pine nuts.  This Fiano is richly textured with lively acidity.  It's delicious now, but also has enough freshness and depth to improve even further with cellaring.  Enjoy!

Wine & Spirits, 92 Points

"Lively acidity drives flavors of green apple, lemon zest and pine nuts through this richly textured wine, picking up notes of savory herbs, peach pit and salinity on the way to a long and complex finish. This has the freshness and depth to improve over the next several years."

Winemaker Notes:

"This is a special selection of older Fiano vines from high-altitude estate vineyards is a wonder. Smoke, pears, flowers; weighty and concentrated with a finish that goes on forever. Incredible cellar potential!"
