Babs Wine Company is a collaboration between famed winegrower John Wagner and equally famed winemaker Adam Lee. The label is a throwback to a different time in Santa Barbara when the region was barely known, the wines were great and the prices were low. John Wagner is possibly the largest landowner in Santa Rita Hills, owning both the John Sebastiano Vineyard and Peake Ranch Vineyard & Winery. Adam Lee is a superstar winemaker and a true Pinot Noir specialist known for his critically acclaimed wines. Lee founded Siduri in the early 90's and is perhaps the most instrumental person in the rise of the Santa Barbara wine region to the world stage. After selling Siduri, he wanted to get back to the fun side of winemaking with small-production wines that don't break the bank and are fun to drink. Babs comes from all three of John’s vineyards, and Adam weaves these great sources together into one outstanding wine. The 2020 Babs Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir is impeccably made and a smoking value. It's rich and satisfying with aromas of candied black cherry and buttery cinnamon rolls. This Pinot is juicy and fruit-driven with notes of bing cherry, pomegranate, herbs and pepper. It's medium-bodied, nicely textured and balanced. Enjoy!

"This is a rich and satisfying expression of Pinot Noir by Adam Lee. Candied black-cherry and buttery cinnamon roll aromas lead the nose into a tighter palate, where ripe red-cherry and pomegranate flavors are spiced by cracked pepper, crumpled sage and a hint of bay leaf."
Jeb Dunnuck, 90-92 Points
“Coming from a collaboration with Adam Lee and John Wagner, made at Cambria, the 2020 Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County is a juicy, up-front, fruit-driven Pinot Noir with lots of Bing cherry, pomegranate, and peppery herb-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, nicely textured, and balanced, with plenty of mid-palate depth, it's going to be a smoking value for those who love up-front, impeccably made Pinot Noir. Drink bottles over the coming 3-5 years.”
Winemaker Notes:
"The red fruits of Santa Maria Valley and darker flavors of the Sta. Rita Hills helped produce a quintessential Santa Barbara Pinot Noir. Babs reveals dominating juicy red fruits on the nose, with subtle notes of umami and sandalwood. The palate reveals a fruitier side, with notes of bing cherry and pomegranate at the forefront. With bright acidity and minerality, the use of whole clusters in the fermentation adds additional complexity and subtle hints of new oak to create a long juicy finish. Babs is the more relaxed side of Santa Barbara County – fun, friendly, and so very tasty!"
