Producer: Cruse Wine Co.
Region: Suisun Valley, North Coast, California
Varietal: Valdiguie
Year: 2019
Vineyard:
"Valdiguié (Napa Gamay) from a vineyard just outside of Napa town in the Suisun Valley. Planted in the early 90s, and tucked away in the hills, this relatively cool vineyard produces lighter and fruitier Valdiguié than the other sites we work with."
Winemaking:
"Whole clusters were allowed to go through carbonic maceration for about 14 days then whole cluster pressed using our gentle pressing cycle. The wine was then fermented in small barrels for approximately 30 days to assist in settling. Finally, the wine was racked to stainless and bottled with a small amount of sulfur.
This is a fully formed wine, despite its exceptional youth. The color is a bright, ruby red. The nose is serious and wild; crushed raspberries, roses, wet earth dominate with a small amount of the banana that one would expect from a 100% carbonic wine. The palate is surprisingly structured with a length uncommon in a wine of its age."
