Jeff Carrel is a bit of a maverick and not your average French winemaker.  His wines are anything but ordinary.  He has worked in Beaujolais, Alsace and Bordeaux, but his true fascination is the South of France.  Carrel's achieved great status as the hottest roving winemaker in the South of France.  They are simple wines, but not simplistic and always at affordable prices.  Seeing "by Jeff Carrel" on a label is now universally regarded as a promise of good things to come.  There are few wines in this price range that are quite so seriously rich, intense and satisfying.  His wines are beautifully crafted, authentic, honest, flavorful and delightful.  The 2018 Jeff Carrel "Les Darons" Languedoc Rouge is pure deliciousness and always a delight.  It's a bright, accessible red with loads of character.  It has notes cherry, raspberry, violets and plenty of spice.  This Languedoc red is charming, elegant, silky and seamless.  It's the perfect house wine for any occasion.  Enjoy!

Jeb Dunnuck, 90-92 Points

"The 2018 Languedoc Les Darons checks in as a blend of 75% old vine Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 5% Carignan that’s from a mix of the La Clape, Agly Valley, Minervois, Saint Chinian, and Taileran regions of the Languedoc and Roussillon. This elegant, beautifully perfumed red has sweet cherry and black raspberry fruits intermixed with ample spice, candied violets, and ground pepper. It's elegant, silky and seamless on the palate, with beautiful purity and an upfront, charming style."

Winemaker Notes:

"Deep red with glints of purple.  An accessible wine with loads of character, “Les Darons” is packed with ripe, red and dark fruit aromas, with plenty of spice and a streak of underlying minerality.

Alcohol: 14.5%
