"Shows the light and fragrant side of the grape with citrus, Golden Delicious apple and poached pear. The bouquet is rich and nicely layered.” - ML
Renowned Campanian producer Mastroberardino (founded in 1878) is recognized as one of Italy’s most prominent producers. Proprietor Piero Mastroberardino and winemaker Massimo Di Renzo preside over some of the most important vineyard property in the Campania region and champion the once nearly extinct Greco di Tufo vines. This distinctive wine style is a marriage of the indigenous Greco Bianco varietal and tuff (or “tufa”), a unique soil composition defined by both its calcareous content and volcanic rock and ash deposits (planted well above 1,000 feet elevation).
Our own Jordan Wardlaw says on the nose he gets, “Citrus, anise, white pepper and white flower aromas. Crisp yellow apple and subtle tropical quality on the palate with a grippy, herbal pine resin quality on the finish. Shimmering acidity throughout, bringing tension between yellow/green fruits and spicy/herbaceous phenolic character. A serious wine, perfectly suited to Mediterranean cuisine.”
