91 Points, Wine Advocate
“The inky, ruby-colored 2013 Languedoc La Mejanelle Copa Santa is a jaw dropper that’s loaded with rich, pure, layered notions of black raspberries, crushed violets and damp herbs. Coming from a mix of 83% Syrah and 17% Grenache, completely destemmed and aged 15 months in mostly foudre (23% in one- to five-year-old barrels), this medium to full-bodied beauty has good concentration, fine tannin, and an overriding sense of purity and elegance. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years."
Descending from a family that worked the vineyard since 1640, Claire Clavel Winemaker strives every day to continue the story of several generations.
Our team notes that the Languedoc has consistently produced some of the best values in the store the past couple of years and most of the wines are made in a very natural style.
