PROOF THAT ZINFANDEL CAN AGE! 

After our very successful offer of the Mara Laughlin Ranch Pinot Noir, Charles sent us several samples of Zinfandel he made from the famed old vines at Dolinsek Ranch in the Russian River Valley. We were stunned by the 2007 Several staff members guessed it to be 2015 or 2016 vintage. With age this wine has taken on a lovely earthy, cedary component with warm fall flavors. Very reminiscent of a Brunello or Super Tuscan with age. Perfect to have on hand when you need something ready to drink while you wait for the bigger wines in your cellar to mature.

Here is our tasting note: 

“Deep garnet in color with aromas of cherries, black raspberries and hints of vanilla. On the palate there are warm flavors of plum, cinnamon and caramel, and a nice lingering finish filled with an earthy, savory quality not found in younger Zinfandels. Delicious!”

Winemaker Notes: 

"This is an amazing wine from an amazing vintage. The color is dark red to purple with slow moving tears that move down the glass after you swirl it. The aromas and bouquets are of stone cherries and raspberries with hints of vanilla. Because of the richness in the mouth, the wine is soft and smooth. (Extra time in barrels makes that happen). The flavor that comes out in the taste are again stone cherries and raspberries and now fans out with cloves, cinnamon and caramel and many more facets of flavors. This wine is quite reminiscent to some of the Best Super Tuscans and Brunello di Montacino's of Italy. The wine can really be enjoyed now and I would suggest decanting your bottles so your first glass tastes like your last glass. Enjoy this creation of Old Vine Russian River Valley Zinfandel from the Dolinsek Ranch with a touch of Cabernet and Petite Sirah for added flavors."
