2017 Mill Creek Winery Gewürztraminer
Producer: Mill Creek Winery
Region: Sonoma County, California
AVA: Russian River Valley
Virginie Boone for Wine Enthusiast writes, "Listed by the producer as dry (no residual sugar) and from its estate, this white is fragrant in jasmine and rose petal, the full-bodied style unctuous and ripe. Lemon peel and peach play prominent roles. 89/100."
The Gewürztraminer block on the Mill Creek estate in Dry Creek Valley was planted using graft wood from their original 1979 block, and the vines produce small clusters with concentrated flavors. The grapes are harvested early in the morning and delivered to the winery cold. From there, they are crushed and pressed and then fermented in stainless steel between 53°F and 60°F. After fermentation, the wine is settled on its lees for 3 months and then bottled.
