2015 Black Kite Kite’s Rest Pinot Noir
Producer: Black Kite Cellars
Region: Anderson Valley, California
Varietal: Pinot Noir
This family-owned producer is named for the beautiful but endangered Black Shouldered Kite that is native to the Anderson Valley. These incredible hawks are indigenous to the Anderson Valley and can frequently be seen circling the skies over the Black Kite Vineyard. They have penetrating red eyes which are prominently portrayed on the beautiful label.
Josh Reynolds of Vinous.com "(33% new French oak): Brilliant red. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes fresh red berries, incense and candied flowers, with a smoky oak nuance that builds in the glass. Sappy and focused on the palate, offering vibrant cherry and raspberry flavors accented by a peppery flourish. Concentrated but lively as well, showing impressive finishing cut, building spiciness and subtle, harmonious tannins.. 90/100”
Our team had to start stacking cases of this wine on the floor because we couldn’t keep it on the shelf!
