2013 Damien Coquelet Morgon Vieilles Vignes Cote du Py
Producer: Damien Coquelet
Region: Morgon, Beaujolais, France
Vinous, 92 Points
“Vivid ruby. Intense raspberry and violet scents are underscored by a smoky mineral quality and a hint of licorice. Nervy red and dark berry flavors show excellent definition and pick up a spicy nuance that gains strength with air. The mineral and floral notes repeat on a very long, incisive finish, which features silky, harmonious tannins that fade quickly into the vibrant fruit.”
"Damien Coquelet bottled his first vintage, 2007, at just 20 years old! The stepson of Georges Descombes, Damien has worked alongside him since early childhood. Learning everything from Descombes in the vines and shared cellar has instilled the same values in Damien's work ethic: organic viticulture, hand harvesting, native yeasts, zero intervention in the cellar and little if any sulfur at bottling."
Our wine buyer Barry says, “Beaujolais is one of the best values pound for pound in the store and is one of the most popular choice for members of the trade.”
