"A lovely fresh Pinot Noir from the cool, late-ripening Tualatin Hills just outside of Forest Grove, Oregon. With a wonderfully minty lift that carries from the aromas to the palate, the Cancilla Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about fresh savouriness. Bright taut aromas of cranberries and a squeeze of blood orange and a mint streak that's framed by a seaspray mineral tone. Tomato leaf, tart blood orange and early-season raspberry leap across the palate with pulsing electricity. It's all lifted up with smoky notes of sea salt and a wine that punches so far above its price point."

"The 2022 Pinot Noir Cancilla Vineyard is understated in the glass, taking its time to reveal dusty violet and rose tones, dried black cherries and hints of clove. Round and pliant with a gentle spiciness, it displays ripe red and blue fruits that saturate toward the close. Tension builds as fine-grained tannins join the fray and a bump of brisk acidity togas the cheeks. This is a beauty, but patience will be required."
Burghound, 90 Points
"A pretty, perfumed and expressive nose freely reveals its spicy mix of red and dark berries that are laced with briar hints. The sleek, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors possess good detail on the bitter pit fruit-suffused finish that is largely well-balanced save for a hint of warmth. This could use better overall depth so a few years of keeping should help."
Winemaker Notes:
"When we were finally able to convince our good friend, Ken Cancilla, to sell us grapes, we were ecstatic. He had started growing exceptional organic, dry-farmed grapes low-yielding just outside of Forest Grove in the Willamette Valley AVA just north of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA line and the quality was fantastic. In the 15 years since, Ken has retired (again) and has passed the vineyard on to the Trommello-McConnell family. Their commitment to building on Ken’s legacy bodes well for the future of the site."
