Villa Sparina was named the European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast in 2021. The winery is known for its distinctive bottle shape inspired by an old bottle discovered in the estate's historic cellars. Villa Sparina is also known for being the winery that transformed a once forgotten appellation, Gavi, into a wine enjoyed throughout the world. Sparina's Gavi wines are coveted by connoisseurs who view the appellation as a quality-driven alternative white that can compete with world-class wines across the globe. Gavi was known for centuries as one of Piedmont's best white wines, but went largely undiscovered outside of the country until recently. The region redefined what the Cortese grape is capable of, enhancing its innate complexity and cellar potential. It's one of the first Italian white wines to gain an international reputation. Gavi is crisp, refreshing and so bone-dry it leaves your mouth tingling. The wines are soft, fresh, floral and fruity and popular for their mineral-driven qualities. The wines are nutty, floral and often have flavors of lemony citrus, green apples, honeydew and straw. It's a jewel of Piedmont and perfect for lovers of mineral, bone-dry whites. The 2022 Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi is medium-bodied and textured with fresh, vibrant acidity. It has a delicate bouquet of dried pineapple and peach. It's full and rich in flavor, yet mineral and refreshing. It's tangy and fresh on the palate with flavors of sliced, apples, lemon zest and stone. Enjoy!
