"Aromas of ripe pears and acacia blossom. There is a rich, waxy buttery quality on the palate and plenty of depth. This wine has the concentration and charm of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey's more famous crus at a much more accessible price. The south-facing slopes that line the left side of the road to Chagny provide a climate that ripens fruit well – this is essentially a continuation of En Remilly. In 2020, the ripeness was perfectly correct, with an alcohol of approximately 12.5%."
Wine Advocate, 91-93 Points
"The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière is very promising, wafting from the glass with aromas of green orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, citrus zest, white toast, pastry cream and gunflint. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, its pretty core of fruit is girdled by bright acids and chalky structuring extract. The 2020 vintage is another very promising year for Pierre-Yves Colin, who finds the wines a bit more charming and demonstrative than the more serious, structured 2019s—the latter a vintage we revisited in bottle and which appears to possess considerable aging potential. As readers may know, Colin's bigger cuvées are crushed and see four-hour press cycles, whereas smaller cuvées aren't crushed but see even longer press cycles lasting five or more hours. Vinification and maturation in barrel, with a heavy emphasis on larger-format barrels, follows."
Burghound, 91 Points
"Slightly riper aromas include those of both white and yellow orchard fruit that is laced with notes of petrol and enough wood influence to point out. The delicious and attractively energetic medium weight flavors possess a bit more volume and richness if not quite the same underlying tension and overall length. Even so, this is still extremely pretty and a wine that could be approached young if desired.Burghound Outstanding"
